new room!

Check out this yellow that now showers the walls of my new room in joy. The color is golden glistan, and the shade turned out as true to its name. I wanted a bright yellow, but not so much stop light yellow as golden fall leaves yellow, 'cause around here, after those fall, it becomes dark and rainy - Just in time for a golden glistan party on Glisan Street. Pictured are some sweaty & tired (yet adorable) movers and painters.

I find myself late night, editing this post and thinking that Dr. Seuss has something to say about it. Here it is:

"Green Days.
Deep deep in the sea.
Cool and quiet fish. That's me.

On Purple Days
I'm sad. I groan.
I drag my tail.
I walk alone.

But when my days
are Happy Pink
it's great to jump
and not just think."

-Dr. Seuss in My Many Colored Days

Can't stop with just one Dr Seuss quote of the night (or decade, rather, since I've last read this wisdom) Here is another good one:

If you never did, you should. These things are fun, and fun is good.
-Dr. Seuss

the king

So when mom was in town, I pulled the sweet eyes at the grocery store check-out line and she said yes to buying me the Michael Jackson Commemorative Rolling Stone. Score! I read some of it the other day, and this line stuck with me:

"he was not a guy who nobody thought nothing about"

Anyways, I feel like its been long enough since the fateful day to give homage to the greatest pop icon of mine, yours, our time.

And, check out the booming website created by Hannah, out of love, within 10 minutes of his death.

summertime meltdown

Midst birthday celebrations, visitors galore, and a mostly unemployed (and too much fun) social circle, Portland is experiencing a *record breaking * heatwave these past few days. You can hear the chatter in the stores and feel the sweat radiating from bikers and children in the streets. it's hot.

Here are a few of my favorite summer images that just scream heat and the perpetual search to be close to water

mmm the freshest of fresh berries from the Wednesday morning farmers markets in the SW Park Blocks. Mom and I picked up a few for our ride to Hood River later that afternoon.

Crew celebrating Eleanor's 24th birthday at Ecola State Park. Check out Mayme lookin' fine in white, Elea perched on her soccer ball, and of course the snack crew around the cooler.
