"We all lived in the neighborhood for a couple of more years-mostly through junior high school-and every summer was great. But none of them ever came close to that first one. When one guy would move away, we never replaced him on the team with anyone else. We just kept the game going like he was still there." -smalls

Sometimes, I guess there just aren't enough rocks.
Yumm. Sundays are for eating, and we have a saying in the South that seems appropriate here - "man, was that some good eatin'."
Wade and I left the house just as the rain stopped for a delicious brunch at oh-so-cutesy Juniors. (we sat outside in the cold mist thus drank waay too many cups of coffee). Their oatmeal is to die for. They claim to soak the oats for hours (or maybe even days?) and serve the bowl with side cups of raisins, brown sugar, and maple syrup so you can make it to perfection. Wade had the greek omlette. Too much garlic for breakfast is always a good thing.

Then Hannah and I were treated to a celebratory dinner at Laurelhurst Market (she got a raise! thanks Lowens!) where we had close to one of everything on the menu. Highlights: trying Steak TarTar for the first time, the red peppers stuffed with halibut, the yummy gin drinks, and sopping up the leftover mussel juice with their delicious thick sourdough.
To rest our stomachs and minds, we went home and settled down with Trevor for a early fall viewing of Forrest Gump. It was right on time - but of course, when is it not.

An index of Forrest wisdom:
1. JFK: Congratulations, how do you feel? Forrest Gump: I gotta pee.
2. When I got tired, I slept. When I got hungry, I ate. When I had to go, you know, I went.
3. I'm sorry I had to fight in the middle of your Black Panther party.
4. My Mama always said you've got to put the past behind you before you can move on.
5. My momma always said you can tell a lot about a person by their shoes, where the go, where they've been. I've worn lots of shoes, I bet if I think about it real hard I can remember my first pair of shoes.
6. Sometimes, I guess there just aren't enough rocks.

everyday necklace
phew, turns out i need to find some blogging discipline. i think its connected to the fact i've not yet given out the address. except to you, ms sarah moffett (heeey girl). so i have been wearing this necklace most every day now for 4 months and its worth noting somewhere. it goes with everything and looked great with sun-kissed skin.
the girl seems rad, and re-visiting the site not only makes me want to flip the light on and bead all night, but to work hard tomorrow so i can buy all of her stuff. sigh. contradiction. guess i'll sleep. check out her stuff!
